DATA MANAGEMENT
A good data management system allows SGIGs to track socioeconomic data over time. Your data management system includes your information technology (IT) system as well as your practices for tracking and compiling data. This section introduces:
- The data lifecycle.
- Guidelines to identify your IT requirements and considerations for IT procurement.
- Guidelines to assess and improve the quality of your data.
- Storing data, protecting data, and preserving data for the future.
- The basics of data security and privacy.
The content in this section is quite technical. It is expected that specialized expertise will be needed to implement the processes described. A primary goal of this section is to provide an overview of the language and key concepts of data management, privacy, and security so that you can understand your needs and evaluate solutions and suppliers.
The webinar below is a presentation by Rebecca Wortzman and Lela Draganic (Big River Analytics) on data management, privacy, and security. For more webinars covering content in this toolkit click here.
